NC Transplants: Where did you come from and Why?
Hi everyone! Next friday I'm moving to NC from Michigan for a teaching job. I know there are a ton of transplants in NC, and I wondered where they all are from, why they came, and which state has contributed the most.
So, where did you come from, and why did you move down?
Thanks,
mackinac

Hey mackinac! I just moved to Fayetteville from San Jose, CA a month ago. I came for a few reasons, not the least of which are my boyfriend lives here and California's economy is in shambles. The people here have been very friendly and nice. The hardest part has been not having a job - something you don't have to worry about! I hope you enjoy it here. Good luck to you!!

Moved here from Florida. Family here and hubby went back to the company that he used to work for in Florida.

Moved from PA here (after 27 yrs in San Diego, CA). Grandchildren are here and now we're retired. We came for the weather. Oh, and the grandkids of course.

I'm heading down to Salisbury at the end of the week from New York State. Sorry always clarify that I'm from the state not the city. My sister and her kids and hubby all live there so I'm going to stay with them for a little bit.

We're officially established in the Charlotte area as of this coming weekend! I'm excited, but a lot of work and weary nights to come with getting moved and established. We're current in NW Ohio, I am originally from Lansing, MI. Moved to Ohio in 2007 for jobs. We're transferring within the company and the incentive has to do with training opportunities and growth within the company that we can't get elsewhere, plus a more diversified economy base.

Chicago.
I loved it there, but, after a while, it was just too cold, crowded and smelly.

As much as I like downtown Chicago, it's too much sprawl for me. The traffic on I-80 is bad enough, so I'll just visit.

Transplantation to NC
Wife and I came down in February from Redford MI--on the border of Detroit.
Moved partially for work (stability) and some for a new adventure...
