We are in trouble. No more EB after today unless some one comes up with a new plan or some jobs. Sick.

Is this REAL? Did she really leave office without making a decison one way or another?

Bill to cost the jobless | CharlotteObserver.com & The Charlotte Observer Newspaper (http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2011/04/17/2229036/bill-to-cost-the-jobless.html - broken link)

She really vetoed H383. Hard to believe. The only hope left for EB is that now that that gambit is over, they might work something out, preferably quickly.

"Even after the veto, unemployed residents who have maxed out their benefits could still get 20 additional weeks, to be paid retroactively, if Perdue and the legislature agree to it sometime before year's end."

It means, after the veto, you can still get EB if Perdue & Legislature agree to it before June 30, 2011, which is a long time from now. Hopefully they'll come up with something asap instead of waiting out their time.

There is no notice of a veto to have actually taken place as of yet. Do not panic and get frustrated.

I was really negative about this when I went to bed but I started thinking,,, If she REALLY vetoed the bill the REPUBLICANS would be all over it in the media. But they aren't,,,,,, basically the media is just reporting the statement she leaked early that morning. For some reason I think they were working on soemthing and didn't ge a chance to finish it. Why else would she leave without making an official statement or an official veto?

Now as for the bill being retroactive. 1st,,, bill collectors , landlords and banks do not care about retroactivity. 2nd ,I called ESC twice, I was told that a bill will be retroactive for people who are on EB CURRENTLY. Not new applicants. I don't know if this is true, but two different agents told me this,, so I'm getting prepared for it. If anyone has more information about this let me know. I also wrote Mr. Clegg about retroactivity but I haven't received anything back from him.

Their has been no notice of a veto(or anything for that matter) so don't jump the gun yet. The governor knows what a nightmare retro-activity will be for the ESC. This will be taken care of early next week, or shortly after that. She doesn't want this looming over her head until June. It just doesn't make sense. Your right, something is being worked on......Their would have been some official word, but there definitely has not been.

hope things work out

I hope they send her a bill that just extends unemployment and doesn't rake education over the coals.
