I really don't understand how you all can justify support for the Governor. Analysts say the state is facing a $2.4 billion deficit, yet the proposed Perdue budget will still run a $1.4 billion deficit - despite the increased sales tax Perdue is counting on (which she previously said would end - if she were to keep her word on the tax, the deficit would be a staggering $3.7 billion instead of 2.4 billion!) Perdue has already used federal assistance in addition to "rainy day" funds plus the aforementioned tax to cover deficits in 2009-10.

The GA presented the Governor with a $18.3 billion budget that would erase the deficit, yet Perdue sat on her hands for two months instead of negotiating with the GA at that time. Don't you all understand that Perdue didn't do her job? If she had, the GA wouldn't have had to force her hand. Even after the GA did this, Perdue had a chance to negotiate a budget - if she had been prepared - and sign the EB bill.

The real issue is a governor that should be fired, not whether anyone is a Democrat or a Republican.

Representative William L. Wainwright (Dem) filed H676 on 4/5/11 and it has been in committee since 4/7/11. Now the petition should get it released from the committee. How easy would it be to put it on the calender fo Mon. or Tues. and get it through 2nd and 3rd readings and passed? Maybe 15 minutes? Why they don't make it happen is beyond me. S584 is the same bill in the Senate. They could make it happen also if the bill wasn't stalled in the finance committee. All that is going to happen this week has. Thanks to everyone for constant updates and let's all pray that the representatives come to their senses and pass this clean bill.

We all have to remember that these people have been working on or not working on this issue for a month. April 5th was when the first bill was introduced. That bill sat stagnant for two weeks. So the GOP were showing that they will not support this issue separately. The GA Dems have their hands tied. I've received so many emails from them saying that they back an EB extension and will do what they can. They have done just that, but they are the minority. They desparately need the governers help in this situation. She has gone MIA. She hasn't said one word about this except her "extortion" comment. People are blasting her facebook page about this and the only answer anyone has received is that she's waiting on a clean bill. They need a lot of votes in order for a bill to pass the senate floor. I don't know if they will get it. She needs to talk with Berger and Tillis. Obviously we were feed bs about them talking last week.

I hate to make light of a serious situation but with all of those cuts,, the unemployment rate might trigger EB back on with a 2 year trigger.

Back to being serious,,,all of this is extremely sad. Where would all of those teachers get jobs? Private schools are cutting back and working their teachers to death as it is.
