I agree... COMPLETELY. Rep Justice is the ONLY respresentative who has responded to my emails... well, my emails sent to the Star News accusing her of withholding benefits. I am proud that she stood up for us. Let us NOW LEARN if she is willing to go a step further and sign the discharge petition.
On another note... I recieved a call today from the AP. After my letter was published on ncpolicywatch.org a rep called me about my story. I hope the article is polished and articulate. It doesn't matter if we are blue collar or white collar or ANYTHING... no one here feels entitled to extended benefits... we just need the financial assistance to get where we want to be - EMPLOYED - as well as someone to stop this embarrassing political stalemate!

I was hoping that meant signing the discharge petition.

I would hope more people thank her for her support. I sent her an email .
Rep Justice
I am writing to say thank you. I read the article in the StarNewsOnline and I am glad to see someone from your party show support for us that are actively searching for work. There have been lots of emails and phone calls made, some by angry and frustrated people. We are just at a point of desperation and I hope your peers will realize that. Again thank you for your support.
Carl C.

It's lunchtime again. Today I sent the following fax to the following numbers (senators business fax) using Windows Fax, my laptop and my land line:
"Dear NC State Senator,
Please reinstate extended unemployment benefits.
Sincerely,
45,000+ North Carolinian's struggling to make ends meet today"

I send an email to my local representative (Tom Murry, Freshman Republican) this morning and laid it on him pretty hard but respectful. I gave it to him straight and from the heart about my desperate situation.
He asked for my resume and said this about extended benefits:
"Last time I asked about this, I was told that a vehicle with the unemployment extension will be coming this week."
So don't forget about your local representative folks.

Lawmakers and the governor should discuss acceptable cuts, if only to ensure that state and local governments continue to function with some degree of certainty should both sides be unable to agree on a budget.
But unemployed North Carolinians shouldn’t be at the mercy of political partisans looking to improve their leverage. They need help now.
This was a relatively routine measure that would have continued federally funded benefits for long-term unemployed workers.
It is not connected to budget negotiations and should never have been tied to a stopgap spending cut.
It’s time to untie it.

Local representatives... EMAIL them and copy the local media. That's how Rep. Justice replied to me. She stood up for her beliefs when I accused her of blocking the benefits. Ask the Media to let the voters know who they elected and copy your reps.
