He is saying, federal taxes come from all states including NC, so therefore NCers are paying for these benefits. It is a political answer, just close enough to the truth for the media not to shoot down, but so far from it to not make sense when you dig into it.

This money was already paid by NCers, and is already appropriated for this task. By denying it all he is doing is letting other states have the money NCers have put into the federal government when we need it.

6. Why couldn't you grow a set and stand up for your folks and let the people see how the governor's office is behaving rather than show the people how much contempt the General Assembly has for its own people.

7. Since it is obvious this whole fiasco it about the inability to find jobs why dont we hear about how our state is working to create jobs and industry. Why do we hear about it around election time but there never is proof of these actions as we see no improvement in the job sector.

8. Why do we always hear about cutting teaching and education jobs. Yes it is a large amount of the budget but wouldnt the people care to hear about how the prisoners in the prison system are getting cut? Prisoners dont lose their lights, their health insurance, they dont go hungry, they have air condition, and bed every night. Isnt there something that can be done to the prisoners first before we jerk our childrens education around.

Greg those are all really good but too long to tweet to WRAL. Can you email them?

I wonder if the ESC has a way to determine how many Veterans lost Extended Benefits.

Politicians use Vet's all the time to pus their cause. This would make a great story this weekend.

Default Federal taxes

We all pay federal taxes which is the source of the EB money. Stam's point is valid in that regard. The problem is the state legislators are denying NC it's right to receive this money into our state economy (by accepting the federally funded EB) so we are essentially paying taxes for OTHER states to receive the money but denying our own citizens and NC businesses that money.

Default Exactly!

It's statements like this that get me fired up. He's trying to justify the fact that they cut off the EB for our state by making people think it's saving them tax money. NOT!! Ugh! We need the media to clarify this.

I'm sending Stam a direct email to point out the holes (gaping holes at that) in his statement.

Please do so as well if you feel inclined.

9. How do you sleep at night with the knowledge that your actions are directly responsible for many thousands of NC children going hungry, each and every day. I'm a veteran, US Army 1980-86
