But then that all comes back to what group are you willing to sacrifice in the quest of restoring our EB benefits. I don't know what's going to happen from here, but Governor Perdue took a principled position of not hurting a larger group in order to save the EBers. The goal is to save the EBers without hurting anybody else. I respect her for that.

"make it happen to the best of her ability," That's another one of those fuzzy phrases that makes me want to . . . Talk specifics, people!

Perdue: 'Hoping for a miracle' :: WRAL.com
Looks like we are screwed. In the end the Republicans we get their cuts, they have the majority and can play the game. Perdue is not willing to even say what she will compromise on. It doesn't have to be education, I am sure there are some "pet projects" that could be cut.

How in the world did this woman ever get elected? Guess she was just blindly voted in and now we are stuck with her. Hmmm...seems to be a pattern.

Ok people, those who say, well perdue never said what she was willing to take, she has several times. Just because YOU dont like what she said she would take does not mean she did not say it.

Also again we are getting off topic, and you sacflies seem to be right in the middle of political bashing. I have reported the posts, so we can keep the thread open.

I agree with the Governor and I voted for her! Wait in line, you will get your EB $$ but not until at least the 2 week in July!

Sounds like the Governor is warming up her Veto stamp, but she doesn't want to say so until she can wrangle in these "5" by using party influence.

I'm sorry to sound clueless...could someone clue me in on what's going on with the negativity? The way it was explained to me, the Pubs are passing the bill and putting it on the desk of Bev by Saturday. Even if she vetos it, 5 dems are with them and are going to override it. BAM, bill passed on Saturday? Wouldn't that mean that immediately the EB would kick in and we would most certainly get our checks within 2 weeks? I mean, when Bev was talking about passing a clean bill, she said we would get our checks "the next week" so why if it's passed on Saturday would it be July before we get checks. Jeez. I am so sick of the negative attitudes on this board. All I have is "hope" I don't mean to sound like a bitty, but for goodness sakes, please let us hold on to that. Can someone explain to me why they are thinking it will be July if this bill they are saying is "veto proof" and will definitely be passed on Saturday? I am confused and really not meaning to come off like a smart alec, but I just need someone to help me understand.

Do not let that get you down, the same person who is saying the 2nd week of July also said the first week of july etc etc. We have hope and will continue to have hope that it will be resolved soon.

And she will, by no means is this veto proof. The closer we get to July 1st and the people realize the GOP is out of there mind with is budget the closer we will be to getting the EB settled!
