Default Out of State Retirement Taxed ?

Does anyone know if a State Government Retirement from WY will be subject to state income tax in NC. I am going to retire to NC and am curious. We don't have state income taxes here and I couldn't find a thread that answered that. Sorry Thanks

NC starts with your taxable income from your Federal tax return and then you calculate additions and deductions from that.(usually only additions for me) Anyway, there is a deduction for Government retirement benefits up to $4000. Here are links to the 2008 forms and instructions so you can see all the fun you have in store when you move here.

Thank you both so much ! I was pretty sure it would be taxed but that is great to hear that I will get a deduction ! I had narrowed it down to three states and they ALL have state tax so I knew it was going to be a fun experience, lol. We may not have state tax in WY but I live in one of the most expensive counties and they tax the heck out of everything !
