Just heard on WAXN that they may offer another unemployment extension. If so this would raise the maximum allowed weeks to 92 This will help me out greatly.

Officials to seek unemployment benefits extension - Yahoo! News (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090802/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_unemployment_benefits_1 - broken link)

The talk "nationally" was that the Federal Government will continue to approve extensions to any state who's official unemployment rate is higher than 9%.

When this is all said and done, the numbers will be mind boggling how much states will be broke and have to "repay" into the system...

I have stopped certifying weekly because I can't meet the requirement of contacting 2 potential employers each week. I can't find 2 potential employers of any kind to contact.

"contacting" is a very loose term, wouldn't you agree?

Even an email, phone call, ANYTHING (even w/o a response)to a "potential" employer would qualify......

Even Jim DeMint said he's voting for the extension on TV yesterday. So, it's going to happen.

That is not good...

you can search out of state and that is acceptable. You will mess up your benefit year and could find yourself in a world of mess.

The unemployment office doesn't even follow up do they? I know when I file it will ask you "Have you filed atleast 2 applications" everyone just usually clicks "yes"

When I file my weekly claim it doesn't ask me if I filled out applications. It asks if I was able to work, did I refuse any work, did I receive any bonus or vacation money and did I start receiving any retirement money or something like that.

I do have a file saved from all the emails I received back that the companies had received my resume. If I remember correctly the job websites, Careerbuilder etc keep track of what you have appiled for also. I would just send 2 out a week and keep the email, what are the odds you'd ever hear back from them anyway.
