Talking Suggestions for campgrounds in NC?

We just bought a new camping trailer & are looking for suggestions of campgrounds to try in NC. We'll probably head to the coast first, but suggestions in the mountains will also be appreciated! Thanks!

Your best beach camping, in my opinion, is at Hunting Island State Park down near Beaufort, South Carolina (3.5 hours from south Charlotte) which is also great for tent campers by the way. HOWEVER, they stay booked most of the summer so make reservations early. I actually prefer to go in February/March myself - few people are around then and you get a more peaceful trip that way. Ask for campsite 47 or 45 if you want the best ocean view from your camper

Best time to go between now and June for me it too hot between july and August or go between septermber and october but watch weather very closely.

Davidson River NC Campground.
Located in Western North Carolina in the Pisgah National Forest, just 4 miles east of the town of Brevard. Davidson River Campground is located on the Davidson River along HWY 276. Nearby to Sliding Rock, Looking Glass Falls, and the Blue Ridge Parkway

This is a quiet yet fun campground beuatiful wooded private lots for tents and the campers rv section is nice tree surrounding field.
Bring a intertube or pool float for the river right next door it a low water river but perfect for floating down on and if you see someone on the side with a deflated tube that is my partner who punctured there tube on ovious tree limbs sticking out of water lol

Also bring old denim shorts for Sliding Rock. Anything else going down this rock and you will get a nice hole in the bottom of your trunks to show the world your tushie. lol

http://rvparkreviews.com/ is a good site to find comments about campgrounds.

We've tent camped several times at Campfire Lodgings, near Asheville. If you are looking for a family friendly spot, this isn't it. There aren't any recreational facilities or kid-oriented activities. It's meant to simply be a beautiful spot on the top of a mountain to take in the views. Very quiet and peaceful. I'd steer clear of Flintlock Campground, in Boone. It's situated right next to a busy road. Perhaps years back, before the area became so popular, it wasn't so bad. Now, the constant din of passing traffic ruined the spot. Along the Blue Ridge Parkway there are several NPS campgrounds. They're nice, but no amenities other than a toilet shed.

Try Yogi Bear's Campground near Tabor City, NC. They're located 30min NW of Myrtle Beach, SC. It's a highly rated campground with plenty of fishing ponds and fun things to do. As a matter of record, I know the owners personally (and they are fine folks).

Jordan Lake has several campgrounds and it's beautiful. Very large lake with sites on the lake and off the lake. The problem with the coast is that many campgrounds don't allow campfires and your right on top of one another. Check out Cheorokee in the mountains.
