Considering Move to NC with multiple dogs
I am considering a move to NC, hopefully within a year. I have no specific area, have not even driven through the state in over 30 years. I am a social worker, specializing in substance abuse, and have determined that there are multiple job opportunities when I'm ready to move. I am over 55, kids are gone, and will continue working for at least 5 years, more if I have no choice.
I currently live with 13 dogs - my primary hobby is dog-related, living and loving them, competing in agility and confirmation, as well as occasional breeding. I currently live in an area that is dog friendly, upstate New York, on 13 acres. Zoning does not limit the number of dogs.
I love the beach, I love the mountains. My primary focus in a move is a more moderate climate, an affordable home (my current home taxes are over $7000 a year) and zoning that will allow me to continue my "dog life."
I am not getting a straight answer from any realtors I've contacted, specifically in the New Bern area, and Raleigh, Charlotte. I dont know where to start. I don't want to live in a city, but wouldn't mind being within 30-60 minutes. Love the ocean, but I've been told that any area east of Rt 95 gets more ice and rain than west of 95.
Are there any "multi-dog households' out there that can make some recommendations on areas that do not limit dogs, and have active dog clubs?

I think you can look into Davidson county, Rowan county, Randolph county. Plenty of acres and away from neighbors

I live in Hoke county and 2 miles away is a mini schnauzer breeder.
Sanford has a great school Welcome to the Bon-Clyde Learning Center-A Complete Dog Training Facility You might want to check for info from them.
As far as I know Hoke and Moore counties don't have zoning laws restricting the number unless you were to live in a subdivision (which obviously wouldn't be the case).

It's not the country life, but Raleigh doesn't limit dogs.

Don't believe New Bern or Craven County limits this either - only thing would be public nuisance issues if they create excessive noise.

Orange County does not limit dogs, other than should not be allowed to run freely, get into neighbors trash cans etc. also a few nice tracts of land available. Same with Rockingham county, friendly rural communities. Orange County does have Chapel Hill

Trent Woods, a community next to New Bern, does not even have leash laws. There are dogs running around everywhere there.
