My husband and I, plus our 7 year old daughter will be relocating to the Monroe/Rockingham area (preferrably Monroe) and starting a new business. I have lived in Georgia my whole life and am worried about getting into just the right area for my children to go to school. I need all the advice I can get on the best place to live, for children to go to school, etc. We will be relocating in December. We were up this past weekend and fell in love with the Monroe area. We are looking for a home in the country with land (at least 1 acre or more). We found a very nice home and will be making several trips between now and December. I just need some direction on the best place to live for my child to attend the best schools (without putting her in a private school). Thanks for any help that you can give me with this... I'm so nervous.

The best school clusters in the area are Porter Ridge, Sun Valley, Piedmont, and Weddington. Rockingham is quite a distance from Monroe. If you have to work in Rockingham pay attention to commute times. The city of Monroe is not very popular for public schools. However, once you get out into the county the schools are good. A lot of people move to Union Co. from Meck. just for the schools.

As a Realtor, I know that clients in the past have specifically looked for homes that feed into the Antioch and Shiloh Elementary Schools, Sun Valley Middle and High Schools as well as the Porter Ridge schools. Depending on where in the Monroe area, most of these are possibilities. Weddington schools are also very highly regarded but it may be a bit too far out of the way if Monroe is your target area.

Hope this helps!
