How Much Do You Pay For Daycare (Raleigh: home, school)

All you mommies out there, how much do you pay for childcare?
I pay $90.00 dollars a week for my 3 month old. She only has him for three days and watches him for 6 hours a day. Does this sound like a good price to you?

It depends on whether the care provider provides the meals....
Is it an in-home center? Or is it just a person who watches just your child?
These things determine the cost....if it were just a person watching my child, I would provide the meals and pay $7.00 or so per hour....maybe $8.
An in-home center situation would cost more, because they are usually more structured, and have activities..etc.

YEARS ago when my youngest (she is 16) was an infant I paid $80 a week for full-time daycare. Plus $70 or so for her older brother.

Looking back-I would have been better off staying home with them. I didn't have that much left after paying for care for the two of them. I guess hindsight is 20/20.

Anyway-based on higher prices and higher incomes now, I'm sure daycare costs have risen. But $90 a week for 18 hours of her time seems a bit pricey. Sounds like in home nanny kind of pricing to me.

I pay $180 a week for full time care in a church program 7am-6pm if I need that much and food is included. They do crafts and have classes to prepare for school. It's not just babysitting.

When she was little I was paying $250 a week for in home full time care. Sounds like you have a deal!

If this child care is in a home and the provider has only your baby or maybe one other, I think $5 a hour is a great price for quality child care. There is a difference for home care vs a daycare center vs a nanny. I was getting $10 a hour for two sisters who were toddlers. My friend pays a woman $15 a hour for one toddler. I personally think you can't pay someone enough to love your child! I know with my two toddlers I loved them and treated them like my own. I would cuddle them to sleep for naps and snuggle with them on the couch for stories, etc. I thought of myself more like a family member/auntie in their life. I think you need to feel comfortable with the quality of the care and then the price will seem like a bargain.

Posting this question in the general NC board will probably not give you a good answer. Daycare prices vary widely even within the same city. Not to mention the difference in Prices you might pay in a nice area of Raleigh, vs. a rural area somewhere in eastern NC. We pay $860 a month for an infant in a full time daycare center in North Raleigh and we are getting a killer deal, compared to what other similar and lessor places around North/NW Raleigh charge.

I've heard people pay half this price in some places in the mid-west, and people can also pay close to double this price in places in CA and pricer areas of the mid-atlantic/NE.
