Default Comparing cost of living/housing costs in Hickory, Asheville, Waynesville or Morganton

I just wondering how the cost of living in these towns: Hickory, Waynesville, Morganton, compares to the cost of living/housing for Asheville.

I'm sure Asheville is the highest, but are the other towns reasonably priced to live in? What about the jobs in those area? I guess getting to Maggie Valley or the Casino in Cherokee wouldn't be that bad from Waynesville and it seems that driving to an area near Charlotte wouldn't be so bad in Hickory.
What are good neighborhoods in those towns?

Impossible to answer your question - too broad! We don't know your price range, for one thing and we don't know your expectations on the type of neighborhood. There may be lots of homes in all those places that are "reasonably priced" but you may not like the neighborhood or location. Also, if you have kids, you would need to know about schools . . .

If it is just you . . . why don't you come spend some time, see if you can find a job, then rent for a while?

On second thought . . . jobs are scarce . . . probably better line something up b/f you come. Or come with savings . . . our unemployment rates in the western part of the state are dismal.

I read today that the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton area has the highest unemployment among NC's metro areas - and has for eight consecutive months.
