Why aren't you wearing your seat belt? Don't blame the cops, blame yourself. Sorry!

There are no "quotas"---they're actually illegal.
Just pay the fine....why would you go to court over a seatbelt ticket???

Anyone willing to resist an unjust law, however successful or unsuccessful they may be, deserves extreme respect.

Exactly! With the number of people sitting in the drivers seat but doing everything BUT driving, why would anyone not wear their seat belt?
Look around the next time you are out, people are texting, talking on the phone, applying makeup, eating, reading, but you will find very few actually driving.

How is it an "unjust law?" When my husband was a state trooper, can't tell you how many people had to notify their loved ones were deceased because they had been ejected from their vehicles---because they weren't wearing a seatbelt.

30+ years as a volunteer firefighter, and we never found a dead person buckled in, but we found plenty of dead under cars, in the middle of the road, etc. because they chose not to buckle up.

Asheville Native said it himself. Because they "chose" not to buckle up. It is a choice. Personally, there are very few situations in which I do not wear a seatbelt, unless I'm situated in the rear of the car, in which case I rarely do. The point is, this whole attitude of "we have to protect people from themselves" is so outrageous and despicable. As far as it concerns underage minors/children, yes, I believe seat belts should be required, but the government telling an adult what risks to take with his/her own body is absurd and offensive. The laws on this issue are nauseating, and I applaud the OP if he does decide to resist (not that you can get very far with this rigged, biased, vaudeville show we call the American court system). The government will always come down on the side of...itself
