What do you do on weekends?
What is there to do around Troy,Albermarle and the forest area? Any good scrapbook stores in the area?

Do you have a Michael's, Joann's or Hobby Lobby?
A good Vet?
Any ideas on where to stay a week with a pet?

I don't know if this is your 'thing' , but whenever I go out there , its to fish.
This weekend , I'm going to try camping out there for the first time.
There's a first for everything.

Weekends
Yes, I did see the responses to my original thread. I just find it impossible to believe that is ALL the entertainment/activities the area has to offer.

Yes , unfortunately those are the highlights of the Uwharrie area!!
They do have a festival there , I don't know when. Also there is a fully functional drive in theatre on hwy. 740 between Albemarle and Badin. They likely shut it down for the cold months. Just out of curiosity , where did you move from???
The first time I went down there , I went with one purpose while not expecting it to be reminiscent of The Great Outdoors. This is not a movie. There was some sort of festival in Troy in June , but I didn't partake due to the heat. Maybe you can adjust to the hard reality of rural life or plan upon putting thousands of miles on your car each month. I'm not trying to be asinine , but am attempting to assist in any way possible.

I don't know a lot about the area but I think it is very rural.

Giant reality check
We will be moving in the near future.Haven't taken the leap yet. Just trying to learn everything we can.We know it will be a 180, but we are ready for it.
We live right outside Orlando and are excited to be moving.Have so many details to iron out.We will visit the area in the next couple months to narrow down exactly where we want to live.Don't want to live near a real city, but I do want the conveniences within a reasonable driving distance. We want to stay within 20 miles of the college. The course my hubby will be taking is 2 yrs. So after that we will decide whether or not we will stay in the immediate area or move to Lincoln county where we have family.
I soooooooo look forward to the cold weather. We were up last winter when it snowed.I loved it. But didn't seem as cold as here. I guess the 90percent in FL makes the temps feel more extreme. I have been HOT HOT HOT most of my life and look forward to a more hospitable climate. We were up in August and everyone NC was about to melt. That was a good laugh for us.Felt like spring to us.

Well I would say more like a 360 change. There are 2 community colleges within a 20
mile radius , I believe. Overall , you may enjoy living there as much as I visiting. Just make sure you really factor the pros and cons of living in such an area. With my experience , it is a nice place to visit , but I wouldn't want to make it my primary home. Also I heard there may be cougars in that area , don't know if it is true , but I'd be careful out there if I were you.
