Is it okay to turn right on a red arrow???
I see this all the time and even have been honked at once or twice. Where I'm from, the red arrow means no turning--not a yield sign like many in this area treat it. Does anyone else notice this too?

No it's not ok to turn on red. I've never been honked at. I would follow the law and let them get the ticket. Just ignore the honking.
Nevermind, just saw the link provided. I was talking about the kind with the sign that says no right on red. Yes I go right on a red arrow without a sign. Do it at Southpoint all the time. So does everyone else.

as long as there is no sign stating 'no right turn on red', you're fine.

it's used usually to indicate that lane can only turn right instead of continue going straight. As DanielleNC mention above Southpoint is a good example.

Just remember, it is right on red AFTER stop. You have to stop, make sure it is clear, THEN you can turn right. This would seem obvious, but........

Not the same thing, but when I was new to NC I learned that a left green arrow is NOT an absolute right to make a u-turn; oftentimes there will be folks with a green right-turn light and those trying to make a u-turn have to yield to them. I've NEVER seen that before and you can imagine the annoyed looks I got when I made my u-turn and couldn't understand why someone would be making a fast right without stopping or even slowing down much! Turns out, they had every right!

"NC" doesn't "go out of its way" to put an arrow there. It's not as if every single stoplight in the state has them; actually they are there in specific circumstances.
