Default Hanging Rock State Park photo tour

hanging rock state park

the trail towards the peak

Yesterday was my first to hanging rock in 30 something years.
I heard about it when I was little that it was popular for rock climing and rapelling.
They have signs against both but I did see a trail it is allowed, but not on hanging rock itself.
The best of this hike to hanging rock when I took a deep breath of the fresh North Carolina air.
I did have a freaky moment hiking down the trail. I heard the sound of someone walking on leaves and it kept getting closer.
I knew it wasnt coming from the trail, as their was minimal leaves on the trail.
I told my pookie to be quiet and then they arrived. It was wild turkey.

By going to the parks website , apparently their is more than the rock a trail to explore in the future leads to a waterfall.

I highly suggest bringing lots of bottle water, maybe have a picnic as well.
or you can use the campground.

A site I was on said the trail was moderate but I felt like it was slightly strenuous
