Sounds like Fords Colony and the rest of Rocky Mount are the extremes of wealth.

I drove through Rocky Mount a few months ago. The place is very, very run down. There's no way all of that just happened with this economic downturn. The boarded up buildings certainly didn't have new plywood on them.

I unfortunately moved here from Phoenix to be closer to family and this town was like this when I moved here for 3 months in 1993. Don't know why I thought it had changed and came back- it is a very sad depressing place. It's like a forgotten city and everyone living here are in a dazed and oblivious to the rest of the world. As soon as my lease it up I'm outta here. Wilson looks more appealing as well as Greenville.
