Talking Comparing Raleigh, NC, to Glen Allen, VA, and Greenwood, SC

I might have the choice between Raleigh, Glen Allen, VA, and Greenwood, SC, for a professional position in the agriculture industry. I would so much appreciate any help or advice in comparing the three!! PLEASE, anyone?

I have two great kids who are wonderful students (11 and 13) so would like great schools (I know that Glen Allen has a great high school) and plenty of things for them to do. I'm very horsey (love Dressage) and would like to keep our 10 horses and dogs, cats, chickens, etc. at our home. Having dressage instruction would be absolutely terrific---right now I have to drive 3 hrs either north or south just to show or get a lesson. Also, my husband is afraid of the humidity, though he's not what you'd call an outdoor type---couldn't he just stay in the house when it's humid like he does here when it's so cold?

I would absolutely love to check out western NC but it seems too far from either of these 3 places. Greenville, SC, sounds popular but I guess it's probably too far from there to work in Greenwood, SC.

I have family (inlaws) in both SC as well as VA, but I was hoping to get more views.

Of course, crime, culture, air quality, etc. are all concerns as well.

If anyone has any input, I would be very grateful---thank you in advance.
