Mecklenburg County experienced declines in new and expanding businesses and employment in the first half of the year. capital investment and the amount of new space that companies will occupy saw an increase.

the number of new and expanding companies fell to 464 from 547 in the first half of last year.

Area employers announced the creation of 5,365 jobs, down from 6,697 in the same period last year.

You can go to the chamber of commerce website and see new businesses that moved in the area, most are in the retail sector...while retail is obvious growing, it does not appear big business it, any comments or thoughts from anyone

It was on the radio news in NY today...Homeland Security considers Charlotte a possible site for terrorist attacks. Newark...didn't hear that one but I can see why. There's a major airport there & it's a major port on the east coast. Lots of oil refineries & chemical companies there too. Just take a drive down the NJ turnpike with your windows down to get a wiff!

They also cited The Mall of America in Minneapolis as a possible site as well. I've been there a few times.
