The unemployment rate in North Carolina remained unchanged in June from the previous month, according to state figures released Friday.

The state unemployment rate was 4.6 percent last month, the same rate reported in May and equal to the national average. The rate in June 2005 was 5.4 percent, the State Employment Security Commission reported.

In the past 12 months, overall employment has increased by 106,612, the state reported.

"Summer employment, along with students graduating and seeking permanent employment, may cause the labor force to show some fluctuation at this time of year," ESC Chairman Harry E. Payne Jr. said in a statement.

The unemployment rate increased .3 percent in May, pushed by newly graduated college students entering the job market. In April, the unemployment rate was 4.3 percent.

With so many people moving without jobs, I wonder what the rate would be considering those people

Makes you wonder if next year is a better time to buy. Because of those who couldn't find jobs or am I missing something?
