Where's a good place for me in NC?
I have been thinking about moving to NC for a long time now and would like to visit a few places after the winter. What areas in NC would be a good place for me to fit in at?
- I like to eat healthy and stay healthy, so somewhere with an organic shopping center such as Whole Foods would be nice. I would also like to be close to a Gym.
- I'd prefer to live in a nicer(more upscale) area. I'm not looking to buy a house, so condos or upscale apartments/lofts are fine with me.
- I own an internet business and that is where my source of income comes from, so I don't need to worry about finding a job.
- I like the outdoors/nature so anything where I could hike or climb, or anything near a lake or river would be a bonus.
- I'm 21 and single so I would like to live somewhere I could meet others easily around my age. I wouldn't want to live in a party town though.
Thanks for the help.

Check out the Triangle area - Forum for Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary The Triangle Area 4 out of the 5 Whole Foods stores in NC are located there. The other one is in Winston-Salem.
There aren't Whole Foods in Charlotte but there are Earthfares, Home Economist Market, Trader Joe's and Fresh Market. The South Park area or Uptown Charlotte may be a good fit. Forum for Charlotte.

Well, the obvious question is, "Why NC?" If you don't know what area or city you want to move to, but seem to have narrowed it down to this state, why? What is another state had more what you were looking for? Do you have family here you want to be near? What attracted you to NC--you'd want to be near that, obviously. I always find it mystifying when people post "I don't know one thing about NC, but I want to move there."

I agree! It would never occur to me to just randomly say "Wow, I think I want to move to Iowa"!

Any place you can secure employment or receive your monthly annuities.

Possibly Charlotte.

Thanks for the insight to everyone who answered. To everyone else: The question is why not? Why do you eat the food you eat and drive the car you do? It really is none of my business, just as my reasoning is none of yours.

The first place that comes to mind is Chapel Hill. It meets your requirements in all the areas except I'm not sure about upscale apartment complexes there. I know there are upscale housing communities, but if you aren't wanting to buy, you'd need to research your options as far as apartments/condos there. Still, I think Chapel Hill sounds like your best bet.
