Default Modular Home Builders - Hickory

I will be moving to the Hickory area in the next few years and am planning to purchase a modular home. I will be visiting the area shortly to talk to a few builders. I welcome information about who/what to look for; pros and cons; the good, the bad and the ugly; etc. In short, anything that would help me make an informed decision. Thank you all.

Just be sure to do your homework. Many manufactured "home" builders will tell you they build modular homes, but they are not true modular homes. Remember, there is a BIG difference between manufactured homes and true modular homes. Some of these folks have hijacked the term "modular" to lure people in. What you want is a System Built home, or True Modular. Avoid people like Clayton for example. Check out Bob Villa's website and learn about the System Built home he built and the company it came from. They are stronger than stick built homes at about a 20% savings. Good luck!

LovesMountains,
Thank you for the quick reply. The homes I have been looking at on the Web are from Nationwide (Taylorsville) Palm Harbor (Newton) and Ritz-Craft (Mooresville). I hope to build within the year and spend as much time in the area until we move "for good".
