Default considering moving

I currently live in WV and am a physician assistant student and my wife is a nurse. We are looking to move to NC after I graduate in 2011. At this point we are just curious as to what neighborhoods to look into etc. I am really hoping for an insiders view as to the best places to live as well as the pertinent positives and negatives to living in NC according to the areas. Ive read some of the data and Archdale and seem to like it so any extra on that area would be great.

Thanks

CK

lol, NC is a BIT large to tell you all the best neighborhoods

Archdale is neither very much on anyones radar or even very big to have much there. Of all the places we are known for I'm kind of curious how you zeroed in on it?

"Best places" to live depend on your particular criteria...
do you mean best for professional sports, best for best schools, best for fishing, best for hiking, best for golf, best for housing prices, best for what??

Its close to the triad but seems relatively rural from the stats I've seen. I went city by city on city data. It is close to several hospitals and within an hour drive of durham. So long as my commute is around or less than an hour Im happy. Tons of open medical jobs in the surrounding areas. Im looking for places around the triad and triangle since thats where most of the healthcare jobs seem to be.

Okay, so you want to be more rural? If you got a job in Greensboro or Winston Salem I'd say the Archdale area is doable for sure. But if you got a job in Durham you wouldn't want to be as far away as that, trust me. AND, there would be no need for it as there are other nice areas much closer to Durham.

If you found a job in Durham and still wanted a smaller community I'd recommend going with Wake Forest. If you found something in Raleigh you could look to live in Fuquay Varina These are very desirable little cities about the size of Archdale.

Believe me, there is no reason to have to have more than a 30 minute commute unless you just want one!
