Is this the view you mean? Its not a clear pic though. You may be thinking of it from a bit further back too. But my personal favorite view is the one you get riding on I-85 around the Stateville Rd and I-77 exits. I've never seen that shot in pictures, but IMO its the best view of the city.

Closer up and a little bit to the west and you've got it. The one that I am thinking of was probably taken from I-277 and Graham Street.

BTW, I saw coach Larry Brown at Big Daddy's burgers in Dilworth today at around 2 pm. He was walking with a serious limp. Other than that, he looked good for his age. Just thought I would share that!!!

Here is a link to an interactive version of that photo. You can click on the pic and move around to see the surrounding area!!! This 3d photo is courtesy of the Charlotte Observer.

This photo actually shows many of the mid/high rise housing projects that have come online on the West side of DT Raleigh over the last decade. The angle of this photo is interesting. It's taken from atop Nash Square with tthe Warehouse District to the immediate left looking NW toward the Glenwood South District. In this photo you can see the following housing complexes/buildings or at least bits and pieces of the following:
Hue
Dawson
The Quorum
222 Glenwood
The Paramount
West
712 Tucker
You can also see Campbell Law School to the right of the "hair curler" Clarion Hotel at dead center and Broughton High School to the upper left in the trees.
