Firearm laws?
Does anyone know if Assault rifles are banned in NC?
I have a couple of AK-47's (always be prepared ) and would hate to have to give them up.

Assuming your rifle is semi-auto only with at least a 16" barrel, you're fine in NC. Large capacity magazines are also unrestricted here unlike some other states.

As of August 14, 2003, North Carolina law allows residents of other states who have a Concealed Handgun Permit issued by their state to carry concealed handguns in North Carolina if the person's state also grants the same privilege to North Carolinians.

Perhaps someone knows:
If I have a CCW permit in Florida, and become a NC resident, is the FLA permit still good, or how long do I have to get a NC CCW?
Also, if one is applying for a CCW in NC, one of the documents needed is a form signed by a "certified instructor" that the applicant has taken NCs firearm safety course. Does anyone know if a military DD214, or a FL CCW permit waives the taking of that course?
Thanks.

Lotta good info there, Weis, thanks.
Didn't quite answer all the questions. A CCW issued by the State of Florida recently renewed is good for five years. If it is renewed, is it still good in NC even after the holder becomes a resident of NC and if so, for how long? If not, will the holder of the FLA CCW be required to go through the certification process again?
Thanks again.
