I would expect a while...
The state's revenue projections are well below anticipated levels and I would imagine they would stall as long as they can on shipping money out for refunds.
Kind of like last year...
The state continues to feel the effects of the slow economy, and the department is managing the distribution of refunds as a result.
We manage those distributions on a week-to-week basis, which means the department is unable to provide estimated timeframes when taxpayers will receive their refunds.
We’re writing refund checks and issuing refunds electronically every week. Everyone who is due a refund will receive a refund. Refunds So Far

I did my taxes on Feb. 1 and got my refund within two days, but I saw a piece on the news the other day stating that they were not sending refunds right now b/c of money issues. That's why we did ours so early. Hope you get yours soon!
I saw where the state is $500,000,000 in the hole so far this year. This works out to another $60 in taxes for every resident of the state and the first quarter isn't even over yet. If they owe you money it might be a while before they toss some your way or they might even do like Arnie and start handing out IOUs.
I owe them money so I'm not mailing in my paper return until April 14th.
^^ maybe that's what they're waiting for until they give out more refunds. I imagine as the money comes in from people who owe, they could pay out to people who are due a refund. Himain I hope you get your money soon!!
So today I called the NC Dept of Revenue (mind u, it's been 6 weeks since I e-filed).They told me today that there was a hold on my refund from the Town of Longview (mind u, I've lived in Raleigh all of my life). They gave me the number to call in reference to the hold. I called the Town of Longview and found out that someone used my social security number to turn their water utilities on. I was born and raised in Raleigh and have lived here all my life. So fortunate for me the Town of Longview dropped the claim on my tax refund. However, the NC Dept of Revenue tells me that even though they have released the hold on my refund, there is STILL NO PROCESSING TIME for refunds. It's been 6 weeks. Six weeks.
this is stupid and shoudl not be allowed to get away with it start writing your loacal newspaper lets put the squeeze on them i know i am what are they gonna do hold my check LOL .................
This is B*******! It's yet another way the consumer i.e. Americans, are shafted when corporations or government don't uphold their end of the contract. Yet, when the consumer does the same we are slammed with late fees, increased interest, etc. If there is to be real reform in this country then these entities need to be held to the same fire that we are. Just the other day, I overdrew my bank (Suntrust) account and, as usual when this infrequently occurs, all the transactions are reordered in the way they post so that they can maximize the $35 fees assessed. For only $9 overdrawn they squeezed out $125 in overdraft fees. $125 on $9! Can you F*****N believe that. I'm sorry but that is nothing less than exploiting the situation from someone who has no job right now and am eating food from a food bank.
