I live Youngsville, just north of Wake Forest and its very affordable and growing at a nice slow pace compared to Wake county. You can still get great deals on houses on 1+ acre lots and its an easy commute to Research Triangle Park, Raleigh and Durham. Lots of shopping only 5 miles away ( just far enough) and about an hours drive north to hit I85 and the Virgina border. I have a friend from Jersey who in the past 5 years has helped all three of his brothers, his parents, his wifes parent and a couple cousins familys move into the Youngsville area...Its a regular Jersey invasion!!!
10 out of 1,000,000 Jersey familys can't be wrong.

We are also relocating to NC from NJ. Our moving day is on Tuesday. We're renting in Apex for 6 months before we decide where we'd like to buy. I've heard Youngsville mentioned before and have a few questions: How are the schools there? What would the commute time be to Cary and Chapel Hill? Thank you in advance for any info. you can provide!

Default Schools for special needs

I am also from the Northeast. NY We are relocating to NC but I am looking for schools who teach Boces students. I haven't had any luck for children with special needs. My son is 15 and has bipolar. Anyone know of any good schools?

Our home if in Cary, is approx. 350-400K. You are hot! Our home in NJ is 930K! It is sick!!! Utility bills (gas+elect) 500 month!! And that is holding back!! We want to make the right move, schools are #1 priority, crime etc. Is cary the place, or should we look elsewhere? We do not want to spend more then 350-400k for a home. Kids are very active in sports as well. If anyone can give us some advise, we would apreciate it. Also 2.5 feet of snow last week isn't helping!!!

Moving to Cary is a great choice. I live in Cary and it definately the best place I have ever lived!

I just wanted to say hi to the New Jersey gang here!

I live in Monmouth County and we are going to relocate to Union County in the near future. NJ is so expensive, the commute for DH is so long, the taxes are astronomical, and so on, and so on.

You guys are all looking in the right area. I lived in NC for 12 years before moving back North. The locals said that CARY stood for Concentrated Area of Relocated Yankees.
Of course with the popularity comes some of the problems you're trying to get away from. Probably going to be a couple of millennium before it turns into Jersey though.

Hi, I'm new here and also deciding if I'd like to become a jersey transplant to NC or not. I'm glad to read nothing but positve things so far. Low taxes and low home costs are what I'm looking for, does anyone have any info on Louisburg,NC? I was thinking of moving to that area?
Thanks so much for any info you can give me.
