We live in New Jersey, 15 min from Philly and 1.5 hrs from the beach, there's always something to do here or somewhere to go.
We were wondering what there is to do in NC? We're thinking of moving to Franlin County.
Places we usually go are the beach, casinos and Dave n Busters.
What do you guys have in that area of NC?
What kind of beaches do you have? We have piers with rides etc, but I know some places just have beaches with the ocean.

Thanks
Dawn

Default NC beaches

There aren't any amusement parks, rides, etc at the NC beaches. The only significantly populated (and I use that term lightly) areas on or near the coast would be Wilmington and Morehead City.

I grew up in FL, but I'm not a huge beach person and have only gone to the beach a couple of times while in NC. I like FL beaches better because there is more public access, public parks, etc in FL than in NC. You are no more than an hour's drive from a nice beach regardless of where you live in FL - even if you live inland, you can make a quick day-trip to the coast. You can't do that in NC if you live inland simply because the public access at the nicer beaches is very inconvenient and the distance to the nicest beaches is too far. You have to either stay at a hotel or beach house to enjoy the beaches unless you actually live on the coast.

I'll take the mountains over the dirt and bugs of the beach any day. No bikinis in the mountains, but that's what local or community swimming pools are for.

LOL Thanks Jas.
I saw that one beach was 11 hours from where we live because you have to go up through Va to come back down into it. I guess there'll be no more day trips to the shore, but that's ok, I'm sure we'll find plenty of other things to do once we get there

You will only be a few hours from the Outer Banks. Atlantic Beach near Morehead City is nice also.
If you are into golf consider Moore County. Besides golf it will put you between the mountains, the casino in Cherokee and the ocean.

There is easy access to Wrightsville beach. You actually can just drive up and park less than 50 feet to the sand. Not a problem at all. Fantastic beautiful beach.
