Hello,
I am in the Air Force and I will soon be stationed in Goldsboro, however my husband is stationed 75 miles away at Cherry Point MCAS. We are looking for a place in the Kinston area, prefferably a townhome or an apartment. I have been searching online and I cannot seem to find any places that show photos. I was wondering if anyone here had any advice or suggestions on a nice apartment in the Kinston area. I would much appreciate any input, thank you for reading!
I'm currently stationed in Goldsboro on recruiting duty for the Marine Corps, I'm originally from Havelock, plus I was stationed at Cherry Point for 6 years. With the amount you'll be getting in BAH, I suggest you look for a house. In eastern NC, in general, apartments/townhouses tend to come in two varieties. Section 8 housing for low income, and overpriced preying on military/retirees with deep pockets. People have yards and land around here and apartments and townhouses are often viewed as being one step up from a trailer.
I also suggest you repost this on the coastal forum. You're more likely to get a better response.
Other areas to look for housing are Greenville (a 45-hr commute for you/ an hr-1hr15 commute for him), La Grange, Trenton, and Winterville.
I was stationed in Goldsboro and now am retired in Fayetteville. I still have a rental house in Goldsboro. The above poster is correct you are better off finding a house for rent. I would recommend you search AHRN for rental houses in the area. It is the system the Housing Office will send you to.

I understand you situation I was transferred from Pope to SJAFB and my wife commuted 70 miles back to Fayetteville to work as a Realtor for two years even when she was pregnant.
I knew a few folks in your situation. It was stressful but they made it work.
