Default Burlington, NC schools and neighborhoods

I have taken a job in Burlington and was wondering if any current parents of school age children in Burlington can give me insight/recommendations re: the schools there. My two children are elementary school age and was hoping to send them through the public school system. Also, I would appreciate any recommendations on safe, family friendly neighborhoods. Any thoughts on the historic district, the area around the country club, Elon, Macintosh on the Lake, etc. Thanks for your input!

I am just about to move out of Burlington. I had my children in private school for the last 2 years because the schools are just not acceptable.

You mentioned Lake Macintosh. I am sure you will have a totally different public school experience if you stick with that area. I believe Elon has a decent school?

I cannot get out of this backwards town soon enough.

Sorry, but this town is just not my cup of tea.

I would definitely go and visit the schools and visit the NC report card to see the school stats.

Good luck.
