I've never heard of anything like this, and I've lived in North Carolina all 22 years of my life...
Oh, and to whoever said most people don't say "y'all," you are mistaken.

Or, to amend it slightly, "move away...and invite your whole family and former neighborhood to move down with you, and then wonder why people don't seem any different than where you came from."

That's not regional! That's kids being kids. I was raised in Upstate New York and we loved putting potato chips on our peanut butter sandwiches!
And for whoever posted the website about what different areas call soda, pop, coke, soft drink, whatever - this ste - http://www.popvssoda.com/countystats/total-county.html - thanks! This is pretty interesting.
And I am very happy to report that Cheerwine is available quite a ways from Salisbury, NC. I'm in Aiken, SC and we have it here. I was sooo happy to see that. I love getting a bottle when I'm visiting my family up in Wallburg, NC.

witch doctor
The witch doctor is not just sundrop with a pickle spear. It has all of the soft drinks in it, along with a slice of lemon too.
