Private equity buys and holds things for the sole purpose to either hold it and make money or more likely, flip it and sell it to somebody in a few years.
This could either be the beginning of the end for Fresh Market or a much-needed capital infusion to expand.
Should have called it Mostly Frozen Market. From talking to the bakery and meat/seafood folks just about everything came in Frozen. Not much was actually baked / made in house.

I found the store to be a poser. It works hard to look the part, but a quick look at ingredients and sourcing indicates that there's no substance there.
I did qualify with the "not much" comment. Obviously there were a very few things they processed in-house somehow. I just thought the name Fresh Market was a bit of a misnomer, depending on your definition of fresh.
