Well, nowhere in NC - the very white collar cities have no jobs and the smaller more blue collar cities don't either. Have you looked at places like Oklahoma and Texas?

NC has one of the highest unemployment rates in the US...if you aren't coming here specifically for a job or other concrete reason, it's best to look in an area with a better shot of finding a job (though you do not say what field, other than "non-degree", you would be looking in, which of course will make a big difference).

I saw this site posted and it's very helpful regarding relocation.
Associated Press Interactive: AP Economic Stress Index
I have to agree w/ above posts NC is one of worst places in U.S. but if your dead set on NC as I was, then u need to head to Charlotte and or Durham/Raleigh area that's it for NC.
Best places in US are SD,ND, Texas, a few Western States.

Great link +1
Unemployment in Mecklenburg county (Charlotte) is 11.8%. It is higher in many surrounding counties. Wake and Durham - 9.2% and 8.5%.

Thanks for the responses, I am looking into getting certified for medical coding/billing. I really prefer somewhere with little or better yet no snow would be my ideal place. Would need an airport close by to come back to vist family and friends.

NC does get snow. You might look farther South, such as Atlanta, for a big airport and more opportunities.
