I Moved my house . The building was of 1946 construction and remains 55’ long by 34’ wide. The structure weighed some 225 tons (450,000#), roughly half a million pounds, the two story, brick veneer structure had to be moved some 165’ from its original lot to another contiguous property and raised some 20’ higher than it had been. It was under the supervision of company called Wolfe. Here is the URL of this company. you can also find some good house moving pictures

We have moved 2 houses. The largest unexpected expense were the utilities that had to be moved or inspected. The obvious things are power lines, but do not forget to check underground pipes and culverts so thet do not get crushed.
Good Luck

A neighbor moved a small bungalow about a half mile, and the cost was about $10k for the move alone, but the various city and state(DOT, due to state highway use) were also quite high.
As mentioned above, the costs associated with hiring contractors and services to keep on-hand during the move and manage utilities, trees, and other obstacles was also a significant expense.

Uh, not to be unappreciative (and I repped you already before on your other reply), but did you not post the exact same message a few responses back on 09-19-2008?

I guess you have already moved by now. There is a house moving company 45 miles from Durham, in Henderson NC. It is called Alvin Johnson House Movers. They have been business for many years. Their number is 252-438-5724. Hope this helps.
