One thing I can say is that most of the people were very friendly, which you may not be worried about to much since your husband is just looking for work. I can tell you that many companies in Fargo are hiring, but the pay be a bit lower, but the cost of living is very cheap. If looking for an apartment you find an 3brd/2bath in Fargo for 600 month, which I found to be very cheap compared to what we currently pay out West.

I have a friend that is a truck drive with Halliburton and really likes it. He works 2 weeks on and 1 week off. He found a small apt in Williston to live and comes back to Minot for his 1 week rest. They have these test that he constantly has to study for and after a while, he is now a supervisor.

Trouble is finding a place to live in the Williston area.

gdyupgal... I am not trying to be "discouraging"...but to be honest with you, there are so many people moving to Williston and showing up at all of the oil field companies in person looking for jobs. There are even people living in a tent city in one of the local parks waiting for housing (even though many of them have jobs) yikes!!!! . If you are serious about getting an interview, you might want to head over to Williston and personally show up at places like Halliburton, Sanjel, Schlumberger, etc... it might get you a job quicker. I am guessing they field 100's of calls and applications a day. Showing up "in person" might get a better response???

Living in a tent city and have a job. Won't be long before it's too cold for that. What will they do come fall and winter?

Well some things in my life have changed recently and I may be moving to Williston earlier than I originally thought. I'm thinking of just putting up a mobile home on my property and be done with it. In talking to one of the mobile home outfits in Williston a few weeks ago, they can get single wides in 6 to 8 weeks. I can then start moving up there. At least I'll have housing.

I'll probably get moved up over the winter, time and weather permitting and look for a job come spring. Everything I hear, a class A CDL is golden up there so that's probably what I will start with since I've had an A-CDL for 6 years already and have my own tractor and trailer.

Halliburton just broke ground in Minot, ND. They are planning on a huge building and 250 employees. See this newspaper article: Welcoming another park tenant - MinotDailyNews.com | News, sports, business, jobs - Minot Daily News

I worked gor schlumberger for 2 yrs Americans are a minority and treated like dirt
