I know I posted this almost three years ago...but things have changed so much. Luckily, I got out of Minot in October 2011. Found a MUCH higher paying job IN MY FIELD, absolutely LOVE where I live. Close to family, have friends, there's so much to DO (not all consumer/shopping related at all), there's so much more nearby, the flights are cheaper, I have actually been able to afford to go on vacation. Oh and the "winters" here are 30 degrees at the most. I work a jacket the whole first winter I was here. It's pretty amazing. I visited Minot in January. It was still what I considered miserable, cold, barren, and boring...I had almost forgotten because I hadn't been there in almost a year...made me REALLY appreciate where I am living now

The cost of living is cheaper, I have no problem finding anywhere that allows me to have my pets, I was actually able to get my license in this state with no problem at all (North Dakota, why are you so difficult). Yep I'd have to say getting out of Minot was the best thing I ever did!

Glad to hear that things have worked out for you. So, where did you move to?

I moved to Dallas. While it doesn't have the mountains and the beach isn't 5 minutes away, the beach is still close and there are mountains close by. There's tons of stuff to do and free things to do and it (usually) doesn't snow, although it has snowed a lot more than usual since I got here which I find unpleasant but it melts in a day or two.
