We are looking to move to Nodak, we are looking for a rental house.
Dogs must be allowed, yard, and garage would be a plus.
Any where in Nodak we haven't picked a city just yet.
Any one know of houses that are for rent?
You will be hard pressed to find a rental house that will allow pets, probably anywhere in North Dakota. That being said, there are some that will allow pets but that are upwards of $900 a month, no tincluding utilities, with a $1000 pet deposit. If you can afford to pay that, shouldn't be a problem. We were lucky enough to find a place that allowed a $600 pet deposit that we were able to get back, along with the rental deposit, when we broke our lease. I would call some property management places where ever you decided to live because I noticed they don't really keep up the websites very well and it's always better to call as they may have listings that just came available. There are housing shortages in Minot. No apartments allow pets that I know of, so rental house is def the way to go.
In Fargo there are many townhouses available for rental, but the market for rental homes has always been tight. The local Coldwell Banker affiliate offers property management services, and one of my colleagues does rent through CB -- and even found a rental house that would allow a pit bull. They're out there, but it does take some work to find them.
Are there any "mom and pop" rentals (meaning a residence that has turned their basement or part of their house into a couple of apartments, or have a guest house that they rent, or in the case of the OP, a couple of extra "rental homes")? I have always found this to be the way to go. Far less expensive and much less red tape. Is there much of this going on in North Dakota? I've never even rented from any sort of company--only from private individuals or a couple. The downside is that you generally have to drive around and look for "for rent" signs, or check the newspapers. But, I far prefer to rent this way. You generally get better response with problems and maintenance as well. On the other hand, if you are a wild partier, you're gone pretty fast--which means no jerks next door keeping everyone up all night. I've always liked this feature, because I've always cherished a "peaceful" place to live.

Thanks its nice to know there are landlords out there somewhere that will allow a big dog.
We have been looking for rentals all over ND, but we really want to be able to have our dog. He is a lab trained for duck hunting.
If you're looking on the west side of the state then good luck. Western North Dakota has a serious housing shortage, finding anywhere to rent is difficult, much less a place that will allow a dog, garage, and yard. If you can, you can easily expect to pay well over $1,000 a month. In the Williston area I know people paying $800 for 2 rooms with no running water, bathroom, or kitchen.
