My husband is being transferred to Williston. We are in need of a place to lease. It will be my husband, myself, and our two boys.
We found a house on Craigslist and I just got a call from the owner of the house saying that she was offered alot more money for her house by a company. Needless to say, she backed out of the deal with us. How are families suppose to compete with a companies money?
If anyone can help with me finding my family a home, please let me know. We are clean, responsible, non-partying, hard working people.
We are willing to sign a long term lease.
First - no one is doing long term leases. The majority of renters up here are on month to months because even if the place isn't being leased by a company they want to up your rent whenever possible.
My best suggestion is to get on a waiting list and be prepared to wait. You're looking at a year minimum. I know plenty of guys who have left their families behind while they worked up here, it's becoming the norm.
I know this won't be the all time answer, but we have oil families here in Minot while the husbands are in williston. When they have their week off, they are here in Minot with their families.

**IF they get their week off.**
Most companies are doing everything they can to encourage their employees to work their time off. Of all the companies I work with only 1 gave ALL of their employees Christmas and New Years off. They pretty consistently work 6-7 days a week every week with no time off.
Jackie, just curious if the company your husband is transferring with has an established office in Williston? or are they a new company? Many of the established oil companies have secured temporary housing for some of their workers.(but not necessarily the family). Maybe he can get established first in Williston, and then when he secures some housing, you can come up with the rest of the family? According to the Williston Herald, many of the city administrators and oil companies are estimating another 2,000 new housing units will come on line in 2011 in Williston. I'm guessing they will be working all winter on new homes and apartments, and some will come on line this spring or early summer? Good Luck to you and your family. Hopefully everything will work out for you in the end.
Thank you Roloff. The company my husband works for is providing him with housing for 6 months.
I know it is going to take some time for my boys and I to find something there. I will keep looking in the area and something will come available sooner or later.
Magiccity, my husband works 5 on and 1 off, fourteen hour days. We thought about Minot, but it was not feasible for us. We need to be an hour or less away if at all possible so my husband eventually makes it home at night.
