Hi
I have provided many on here info on GF housing....I know several who have moved here recently for work with the new UAV system. Rental housing is quite hard as the selection is low in town as most people rent apartments and townhomes but buy houses.
Now for the base, I just dont know anything about housing there. I am not in the military. I correspond through private messages in the forum to a couple from Beale AFB in California who just moved here. Let me see if I can get you in contact with them.
As for the winter....snow is not so much the big deal but the cold is. If you dont live pretty cold weather then it will be a big adjustment. As in cold...20 degrees Fis considered quite mild for winter...many days this winter Dec-Feb have run with highs zero to 10 above and lows 10 to 20 below. We didnt get extreme cold this winter....but can drop to 30 below or lower a few times a year. And dont forget the ever present wind. But most people who are not used to a cold climate do adjust....

I have been doing research about housing option but have come up short with the most commonly used apartment websites and I can't seemto find anything about on base housing. I know approximately what I will be getting for BAH and am looking into what is afforable with utilities and what not. I'm a single mom and have a 5yr old son coming with me and am looking into 3 bedrooms with adecent sized kitchen and a laundry room. I'm not looking for anyone to tell me where to move or what not but more just opinions and especially if they ahve information/ pictures/ floorplans of base housing.
Thanks so much!
