Hi Pie in Ear,

These small towns can be fun to live in. I used to lived in Lansford, population of 300, for 10 years. Everyone helps each other, go to each other's church for Christmas, and if there is a school, all join in school activities. But the draw back is the lack of retail stores, grocery, and medical facilities. If you need medical attention, you may want to consider looking closer to the larger cities. Most of the smaller towns have a all volunteer ambulance service. I volunteered for 9 years as an EMT. Now with the price of gas, you have to be diligent in organizing your trip to a larger town to purchase everything at once instead of making serveral trips. I don't think we will ever see gas go down again. Any way, I hope this helps. ct

I have a relative in Hettinger. It's a nice town. It has basically anything you would need (as far as necessities)...but for chain type stores, you would need to travel to Dickinson is about 65 miles from Hettinger, and about 80 miles from Bowman.
Hettinger has a regional medical center which is a plus. I've never been to Bowman, but I think they have more services than Hettinger.
