From what I have found via Google it appears that Pennsylvania is more focused on natural gas (though not exclusively), which according to a forum post on another site pays lower wages as a general rule. I wonder what Texas is paying their "laborers"?

Hate to say it but I would head for Texas. The whole no housing thing is no joke. When people say there is no housing, they don't mean that they can't find anything they like. There simply is no housing. There was a huge flood here that kicked 4k people out of their houses, they aren't even oil workers and they have no where to live. And if you think your going to live in a car in the middle of the winter up here your dillusional. I'm born and raised here and would never ever, ever, ever sleep in a car. You guys have no clue what your getting into.

Living in the Red River valley....I would agree in general....our area is much more focused east than west....
Getting to comment from PokerJoker....I agree....I learn most of what is going on out west from this board and following KX News Minot FB page. I dont think many understand the seriousness of the housing shortage there and I really worry when I hear about people willing to sleep in their cars during the winter. 20 degrees outside at night is one thing for late October....but -20 in mid December with wind is quite another beast. I just hope all are informed. I understand RV's can be better winterized against the wind and cold, but cars...not so sure.

Spring weather is highly variable... but in general....I consider spring time arrival mid to late April... That is when you are more consistently warmer during the day and grass can begin to get green.

I have a cousin that lives in Montana on west side near Idaho state line and I want to visit him. Does Montana roads get bad in the winter with snow?

The eastern plains can get blizzards as winds are a huge issue there in any storm. That said there are some winters when they have an extended period without any snow and little snow on the ground (at least in the south part of the state -- Billings to ND line on I-94). Now the mountains are always another story....
But yes you can travel in the winter...but be prepared. I dont know if they have chain laws on I-90 over the mountains... check the MT DOT page.

Depends on when you want to visit. If dont want to worry about road conditions, then wait til summer.
