Default Unemployment Tax Deductions

So, like many of you, I've been out of work for quite awhile. While speaking with the fine folks at the unemployment office a few weeks ago, I happened to mention a job interview where I had to travel about 100 miles to the interview. They informed that any expenditures that I incurred while traveling to and from the interview would be tax deductible.

I live in Georgia, so I would talk to the folks in your state and see if it's the same in your area. I'll be keeping all gas receipts, hotel receipts and food receipts.

Could it be that I'll be able to get an additional benefit for looking for a job in Williston North Dakota?!?! I'll be looking into this scenario further, you may want to do the same before heading up to the "Frozen Tundra"!

I believe that if you can itemize... ALL your expenses in your job search are deductible... this goes for your Federal taxes so it applies everywhere.
