jobs & weather? (Fargo, Bismarck, Dickinson: environment, real estate, agriculture)

Can anyone tell me what the job situation is in ND? I'm a secretary. Was a drafter once upon a time. Also, what parts of ND get the most snow? TIA.

This is the area wife and I will be moving to next summer(from California):

Lake Metigoshe State Park
(16 miles NE of Bottineau, ND) Nestled in the scenic Turtle Mountains along the US/Canadian border, Lake Metigoshe State Park is one of the most popular, year-round vacation spots in North Dakota. The area’s dependable snowfall brings snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, skaters and ice fishing enthusiasts to the area. The park has more than 11 miles of cross-country ski trails, and is a trailhead for the 310-mile long Peace Garden State Snowmobile Trail. Ski equipment rentals are available. Three cabins, complete with gas fireplaces, kitchens and baths, can be rented by the night or week. For larger groups, the park has two dormitories (cap. 120), kitchen and meeting facilities. There is also a down-hill ski area just a few miles east of Lake Metigoshe.
Bottineau the closest town is about 9 miles from the lake and has a college of about 600 students. Also, a new super-walmart will be opening there this December.

Also, another interesting area would be Pembina/Wallhalla ND area. It is also more hilly, so the snow gathers more in the winter than on the open plains.

I know the Williston area is scraping for all kinds of workers. Many of the oil companies are advertising for secretaries, office help, etc... also...saw adds for Kadrmas, Jackson, Lee looking for help in surveying, etc... lots of building going on up in Williston, and lots more to come. A Fargo-Valley City develpemnet company just announced they will be building up to 600 housing units in Williston. It gets cold there in winter (but so does all of nd and midwest) , but not lots of snow.

If you are looking for a larger town...I would suggest the Bismarck area. Very nice town with good shopping...and plenty of jobs. Temps, weather, snow pretty much the same as rest of western ND.

Depends on what kind of environment you are looking for.

The west more energy based; and is dry / arid / rugged climate, and is more sparsely populated.

The eastern part of the state is more agriculture / manufacturing / colleges / research. Greener and flatter.

The minimum size town I would ever live in would be 10,000. Anything smaller and you will have very limited shopping / restaurants.

Goodrich (think of tires) has a large manufacturing aerospace parts plant here. They are begging for good employees. Goodrich Corporation

Just an FYI the unemployment rate for most of the state is under 3% so jobs are easy to come by.

Real estate is still very affordable. In Jamestown a nice little starter home can still be purchased for under $75,000.00, and start as cheap as $40,000.00.

As someone said before, I'd look into Kadrmas Lee & Jackson. They have offices all over the state and are constantly looking for people. Even if they havn't posted an opening for your specific role, I'd contact them .
