just my 2 cents worth but it looks like everyone is after the high paying oil jobs.Me im a trades guy concreate framing I talked to and emailed alot of people in the last few weeks and most start at 20 25 an hour and moore if you can run the jobs, factor in the over time 60 to 70 hours a week on the lowend thats 1600 a week and your home at night.Everyone is looking at Williston but there is plenty of service and trades jobs outside of ground zero with employers helping with or suppling housing. ther are plenty of entry level jobs learn to swing a hammer read a tape dig a ditch an then take those skills to the oil fields.me and my wife are leving out next wenesday looking forward to bringing are skills and life experience to the community will keep the thread going on our journey and once we get there to help others on the same path.

Hey everyone, I have been researching cell phone companies and data plans. I found out that Verizon had the best coverage. Then I started researching internet connections, wifi spots, etc. I discovered with the new iphone 4 that it can be your own personal hotspot with up to 5 connections and with a 2 year contract I got the iphone 4 for 99.00. Thus I don't need any the gadgets or any internet providers etc. I am feeling better about the move every day.

You can provide 4 other gadgets with what? The Iphone has to pick up from a provider, doesn't it?

Ok, so Verizon is your internet provider. I have a MIFI from Verizon and it provides 5 WIFI hotspots.

I think it's a great prospect. I grew up in ND and I miss the place dearly. I personally think you might consider Dickinson as a prospective home base. It's on the western and more scenic side of the state and has a housing and employment boom currently (from what I've heard from the reports from back home). Williston has a lot of oil work and the highest grossing strippers in the US but I believe housing is a bit more of an issue. Fargo is a nice town. But on the East side of the state there's nothing to stop the wind and if you've never heard of 'windchill'.......

Just buy some wool socks and wool sweaters when they hit the clearance racks. You'll want them for winter.

Western side of the state, more hills winter is a little less harsh. Minot, floods in the spring and harsh winters. The Red River Basin (north and south of Fargo) floods in the spring and harshest winters in ND. So I'd vote somewhere from Bismarck to Dickinson would be your best bet for the least shock to your system.

girlsayvoid, I think no matter where in ND I will be I will freeze my bottom off. I am trying to look at the positive side. I am doing this big transition for my future. So if in the winter time you see this huge thing not quite sure what is...the abdomible snowman, big foot no it's me with 30 or so layers on.

I got a suggestion to start a blog with pictures and detail about our trip from Florida To North Dakata, I have found a place to have it but I need a domain name....any suggestion? Needs to be short and catchy...westbound2012.com was one suggestion. I was thinking about people that went west back in 1800's by covered wagon to better themselves. If you think about it we packed our belongings in a camper and are going west (northwest). Please feel free to help us out with a name.
