nice town
Also, about Williston. I know quite a few people who have moved to Williston. They really like it. The area around Williston is very rural, but beautifl. Missouri River passes by to the south of the city, and south of the river is a HUGE National Wildlife Refuge. Wonderful for outdoors people. Williston sits in a huge valley with the Missouri river bluffs and cotton wood trees to the south. Missouri river flows into the man made Lake Sakakawea where many people have summer homes. Fishing and hunting are awesome. Wonderful schools, etc... winter can be cold, but not any worse than any midwestern city or town. Jobs are abundant with major oil servicing companies like Schlumberger, Halliburton, Amerada Hess, Sanjel, etc... They just built a huge new Super Wal-mart (if you like wal-mart) 215,000 square foot store. They do not have a mall, which would explain why they STILL HAVE a downtown with numerous shops and stores, including JCPenneys, Vanity, Merle Norman, Maurices, etc... and a strip that connects downtown to north Williston lined with different kinds of stores and businesses (fast food, banks, offices, etc...) They have a nice hospital, etc...overall I would give Williston a Thumbs UP!

to: labrown09...I would check the link below.
http://www.dakotarealty.net/
I know it is a link to a local realtor, but they also own/manage rental properties around Williston. I know Williston has many apartments, but not much available for rent. I understand there is a waiting list from 100's of families trying to move there for their oil jobs. Many of the families still live out of state, and the parent/parents share apartments with other co-workers until their new house, or another aprtment opens up. I know of one large apartment complex called CENTURY apartments. You may need to google Century apartments, Williston, ND to get their link, as most post sites do not allow you to dislplay telephone numbers and addresses. But I know this complex has 8-3 storie apartments, 1-3 bedrooms, 2 swimming pools, and 4 tennis courts, and garages. But the last I heard, they were also full with waiting lists. Good Luck.

Try looking here. http://www.theshopperinc.net/ This is the local free weekly which is stuffed with advertising of all types (rated G), from miscellaneous, to local businesses and real estate. The website should be current (within 7 days) and you will be able to keep a finger on the pulse of the real estate market, help wanted, even the community events.

I have lived in Williston all my life. Williston is a great place to live and we are in a growth phase, we have wonderful outdoors opportunities and are ranked 18th as best cities to live in by Outdoor Life magazine OutdoorLife - Top 200 Towns for Outdoorsman. We do need more shopping and restaurants, however we can't get more until our population grows some, so come and they will build, even though we wish they would build first it just doesn't work that way. Williston is still a small town and offers a diverse climate, where it can be 50 one day then 10 below the next, we do seem to be warmer than the eastern side of the state, but we are all still in North Dakota and we have winter. We are trying to take advantage of our winter outdoors activities with a sledding hill with man made snow that will keep the kids sledding from November to March, and an idea for a ski/snowboard/tubing hill to be built. We have 3 golf courses 2 18 and a 9 hole. One of those courses is the Links of ND http://www.thelinksofnorthdakota.com and is a nationally ranked public course.
The bottom line is Williston is in the midst of a boom and it is exciting around here to say the least. We welcome new people to the area with open arms and hope for newcomers to enjoy in their success as Williston enjoys its long deserved success. Please come and work and play in Williston, we desperately need people, however new home and apartment building is just ramping up so expect some trouble finding a place to live quickly.

labrown09,
Housing in Williston is poor, and it'll get worst before the end of the year. If you are interested, I can send you the links to the realtors in Williston. Here in Minot, the oil companies are making this the central hub between Williston and Parshall. Today, Sunday, and Monday, there is a big oil convention going on here in Minot with over 1,100 people attending. They had to shut down the registrations due the numerous amount of people coming. If you can't find anything in Williston, consider looking around at the smalle towns and out further. I do know of people that live here in Minot and commute to Williston for 2 weeks on and one week off.
