Anybody find a job through “Job Service of North Dakota”?
Since I have been unemployed for over 2 years, I have not had any luck finding a job here in Los Angeles via the government or private employment agencies, with the exception of once, for a 1 day job (via the private employment agency).
Upon reading this recent article (link below) about what one man said about the Williston Job Service of North Dakota, he said:
“The worst place to find a job,” he said. “Anywhere else but here,”
Young Man Chases The American Dream In Williston
So upon reading this article, I am not sure if what this guy states is true (or at least for him and in his situation), yet if Job Service of North Dakota is anything like the dozen or so employment agencies I’m signed up here in Los Angeles, then I would say it would be a total waste of time, for someone using the employment agencies that I’m signed up with here " if" someone just moved to Los Angeles today and wanted to know where would be the best places to try to find work.
So, I’m curious to know if anyone has had good luck with recently finding a job through “Job Service of North Dakota”? Yet it sounds like The Shopper is a good place seek employment leads, based on the recommendation of the guy in the news article.

Im in LA also and unemployed I've tried ndjobs not very good results. I called the williston one stop career center to see if maybe I could get an in there oil companys are always sending recruiters to the one stops looking for people because they get a tax write off for hiring unemployed.I know Long beach one stop has a relationship with exxon mobil and the one behind usc has oil recruiters every other month or so. I figure this is going on in North Dakota too when talked to the onestop in williston she kept re-directing my questions to ndjobs. Which sucks im probably going to have to call and ask for a supervisor if you have ever been to a one stop you know that is going to be hard. Good luck

To be honest I think we missed the boat on the nd boom ship seems to have sailed on the entry level oil jobs before I started cdl behind the wheel I had all day to cruise the net get info the herd is heading to ND might be wise to head towards Texas, marcellus shale and colorado looks like its booming. Wish I had word of williston a few years ago or was ready to go the next day when that Rock center aired.

we sent my husband's info in on several jobs listed with JS. Still waiting to hear back.
On the other hand, one of the craigslist jobs he called on hired him 2 months ago.

I don't think applying through Jobsnd is a great idea. Registering on the website and checking out who is hiring would be useful. Log in, see who has ads, get their info, call them. Don't apply through Jobsnd. The Shopper is a great source of jobs. I'd say that would be your best bet. BUT those jobs go fast usually. Paper comes out Thursday afternoons. I'd check it before Friday afternoon for best results. The Shopper, Inc. - Williston, ND - Classifieds, Help Wanted, Real Estate and More!
