So I may be transferring from Fargo to Grand Forks within the next month. Since I'll probably be moving out of state away by the end of the year, I'd rather not sign a 1 year lease. I figure I would have better luck renting from a private individual who would be willing to do a short-term lease. The problem is that when I go on apartmentshq.com, all I'm seeing is listings from big rental companies like Goldmark. Am I missing something and just not seeing the private listings? Or does anyone know of a better place to find private rentals?

Thanks
Yeah Apartments HQ site is mostly for rental companies...though individuals can post as well. Though not as common. I have seen more of the sublease and roommate ads on craiglist (check grand forks section if looking for grand forks area).
Also you can check the Herald Sunday's paper classifieds (go get a paper version) as not all classified ads do make it to the newspaper web version.
Well, that sucks. A couple years ago when I was apartment hunting they have the private ads from the paper on there too.
And they still might....I am not 100 percent sure as I dont use the sight much. But I have viewed it a few times...also the local paper classifieds. You go go to each newspaper classified section and see what is there. But definitely craiglist has more of what you are looking for I think. There are several of those types of ads now....roommate ones, etc. I have seen sublease as well.
I had a interview today and they told me that one bedroom apartments were going as high as 3000.00 per month in williston.I do not know if thats true or not.
Fixall....It is totally possible. The rents have gotten crazy there over this last year. That is why lots of folks look for jobs that offer housing, like man camps.
