Good luck Thomas. Hope those folks were able to hook you up w/ some leads, or maybe even housing. Lots of construction here both Williston and in Minot.

I also may take the plunge going from FL. Kind of tough to just take off with no job or place to stay especially considering the housing situation. I have money saved can you get on in the oil fields in 2 weeks or less ?
Also everyone is talking about ND but Texas seems to have more oil jobs and last report they couldn't get enough oil workers especially CDL drivers.

The only reason ND is "better" is because the pay is higher.
However, I have to wonder how long that will continue as more and more drivers (etc.) head up there...
And if you figure in the exorbitant housing costs, the lower pay might balance out anyway.

I've lived there 30 years and it's 'booming' now. (I currently moved to Ft Myers) I will be back this summer to sell my home in Belfield. If looking for Oil Field Work, contact Missouri Basin or James Oil Well Service. GL: Both companies operate out of Belfield.

Actually the pay is higer in Texas. The demand is so high now starting entry level is $25.00 an hour in the oil fields. Plus the winters aren't as bad and more to do in Texas on the off days.

Wow! What about Administrative jobs (Finance, etc.).....any demand there? I've heard about people pulling in 6 figures with little/no education....makes me wonder whether there is opportunity for experienced business-educated folks as well. I could sure as he(ck) use 6 figures!

I know North Dakota is getting a lot of the publicity but Texas has just as many or more jobs. Maybe because Texas has always had oil so nothing new. As far as jobs with degrees Houston is one of the best cities in the nation for job growth.
