I arrived in Minot one year ago today. I had a job lined up and soon found a cheap room to rent. My wife moved up in March and we moved into a new apartment. We both have been working and enjoying our time here. I realized I had adjusted to the weather when I was able to walk about outside when it was below zero with just jeans and layers under sweatshirt.

My work has been slow since mid November with only 40 hours a week. This makes the higher cost of living more of an issue and thankfully we have savings and my wife works. My employer expects us to return to the field in a few weeks.

This adventure started when I began to use city data to research North Dakota and was invaluable in my move to the North Dakota oil patch.

Believe me when I say that you have provided us with more on-site information than we could ever have given you. Thank you for all that you have done for the people that arrived or researched after you were there. Congrats on the anniversary. Hopefully things will pick up as the price of oil is slowly creeping up.

My husband hasn't had much work since mid November either, he said they'll be fracking again starting next week.
